LDR with now ex-girlfriend ended about 2 weeks ago over skype. I've been having a hard time moving on, & have considered going to see her face to face in order to "end things right" (8 hour drive each way).
FYI - I told her that she wasn't the girl that I had met a year ago (due to her increasingly distanced behavior), and asked her if she wanted to end it. Her reply - "I just want to make sure that we share this decision". If she wasn't happy, I saw no use in "holding her back".
I find myself having 2 sides - practical and romantic.
Here are the views of each:
Practical -
No use in going 8 hours each way to see her for 2 (or less) in order to "end things right" / show her how much she meant to me. As things stand, I feel pretty bad - chances are that after the trip I will still feel this way, and also be out at least $120 - not worth it from a rational and economic point of view. Best to forget her and move on.
Romantic -
She meant the world to me, and our relationship (in my view) was far more deserving than an impersonal ending over skype. Demonstrate this by going the distance to "end things right".
