Lola,my cat, keeps pooping in the corner behind my tv cabinet.
Today I came home with a visitor and found a huge pile of poo.
That corner of my carpet is ruined with wee and poop.

I have tried:
lemon juice
white vinegar
dettol
vanish
pepper spray

to try and prevent her from using it as a toilet. Her litter tray today was spotless and I change it every other day unless its really wet.She hasn't got a urinary infection either.I love her but its driving me nuts and its embarrassing coming home and finding poo.I can buy all the febreeze plug in's in the world but you can still smell it.
I was going to get new carpets but my lounge is open plan from the kitchen and would cost alot to replace.Given that I have no guarantee she wont poo the minute its been laid what should I do? Its getting to the stage where I'm being to resent her
Re-homing her is not an option.

That corner of the carpet will now have the smell of cat wee/poo so she will continue to use it. Even if you have cleaned it so you can't smell it, she still will and now associates that place as her loo.

You need a couple of things from the vet/pet shop.

First you need a specialist pet cleaner that will eradicate the smell of cat toilet.

Second get one of these plug ins for pets. They have pheromones in them that put the animal off using that area (and indeed the whole room) for their toilet.

I would also put a load of double-sided sticky tape behind your TV cabinet as she will hate the feel of that on her paws and as it is behind a piece of furniture won't be very noticeable.

The other thing I have read (but not tried) is place a bowl of dried cat food there as cats don't like to poo near where they eat.

You could also try a different litter tray (covered if hers in uncovered or vice versa) and a different type of litter.

Finally, if she still does not stop, you may need to isolate her to one room for a couple of weeks until she gets used to her littler tray again.
