Locking up during HotSync

My new Tungsten T5 does not complete its HotSync process. When the backup is complete, it would LOCK UP during the "cleaning up- please wait" screen. Does anyone know what's causing this? :confused:

I would have to do a soft reset everytime I synchronize and it's frustrating.

I checked my hot sync log and everything seems okay:

OK Backup
HotSync operation completed on 09/08/05 11:15:24

well, this has occassionally happened to me. I would do one of two things...
1) I would monitor the screen on my T5 and keep track of what software the hangs up the process. I would try to exclude that software.
2) If the hang up is on a new third party software that I have loaded, I would email the manufacturer of that software and make them earn their money by helping you with that.

The only other alternative is to perform a softset and try sync after that.

Thanks for the tip. However, I can't seem to track the third party software that's causing it to lock up. I'll have to start from scratch and reinstall the Palm Desktop software with my existing profile in c:\palm.

I've only owned this Tungsten T5 for a week, and it's been locking up and crashing a lot over the past several days.

I'll give it one more try with the reinstall, but if it continues to give me problems, I may have to trade it in for a Pocket PC. :)

Much as I hate to sound negative, My T5 is the third Palm device I've owned and is shockingly unreliable. Compared to my trusty old T2 (which was excellent) my T5 causes frequent lock-ups, resets and other problems.

In respect of your problem, it might be worth forking out for a copy of Crash Pro. This does some logging in the event of a reset and might enable you to identify the offending software.
