locked out my phone ?

for somereaosn ihad my phone in my pocket and i accidentally tried the patters too much and it brought me to the screen where i have to put in my email and password, but for some reason it keeps saying invalid password/username .. I know for a fact it is right because I can use the same user name and password to log in to gmail.com ... can someone help ?

SOLUTION : ( how to unlock yours and anyone elses phone with a password :-/ )

all u have to do to pass that screen is to call ur phone answer it and while your on the call open and close your phone as fast as possible while pressing the home key. after about 10seconds it should send you to the home screen and u can go to gmail options for and passwords and change teh info..this might actualyl be a big problem since anyone can unlock your phone doing this..
also after resyncing now when the screen goes off and asks you for the user name and password now when you put the new one in it works..

I got locked out the phone ( too many pattern attempts) now its asking for gmail account and login, i didnt remember it so i changed it on gmail.com i can now log into my gmail account on my laptop but it still says invalid email/password when i try to get into my phone.. how can i get around this or fix this problem.. apparently my gmail info on my phone hasnt been updated to reflect that on the webpage is there anyway to do it ? ( i dont want to do a hard reset )...also when i put in the "username" do i add @gmail.com after or not ?

I forget which one you have to use now, but make sure you're using the correct username. For example, is it someone, or [email protected], or [email protected]? Only one of them works.

Also check that the password you're entering is actually correctly entered. Remember the phone's shift and capslock work differently to your PC. ' and ` look similar on a phone screen, as do I L 1 and |.

well just incase anyone was having the problem i just found out a work around, apparently stupid google doesnt actually check your password from gmail.com so even if you do change ur password because u forgot it the phone will still ask for the old password :-/ ..anyway i found out all u have to do to pass that screen is to call ur phone answer it and while your on the call open and close your phone as fast as possible while pressing the home key. after about 10seconds it should send you to the home screen and u can go to gmail options for and passwords and change teh info..this might actualyl be a big problem since anyone can unlock your phone doing this..

You know - that's exactly right, but it's not stupid. It's a very good security feature. For example, if I change my password to my email account, I'd like to think that nobody could log into it with the old password. I mean that's just obvious right?

So, if you change your password online, you want your phone to stop syncing with your Google account to prevent a stolen phone having access to your Gmail, Market, Contacts, Calendar, and anything else you sync with Google. Changing your password means that your phone can no longer access your Google account, and hence it can't update to the new password.

Normally you'd enter your old password, and once in the phone and you access Gmail or the Market it'll ask you for the new password.

You need to add the @gmail.com yes.

If you enter a password wrong three times, then any password you enter after that will report as being wrong (even if it's right) for about 15 minutes. This is to prevent people guessing your password.

You will need to figure out your OLD password to get back into your phone, and if you can't the only option is to factory reset. That's probably not as bad as you imagine though. Most Android phones sync all of the contacts and calendar entries to your Google account, so those will reappear automatically on your phone. Any contacts stored on the SIM card will still be there too. All of your apps and anything saved on your SD card will also still be there (pictures, MP3s, etc). The only thing that's reset are all phone settings and any contacts that you chose NOT to sync with Google.
