Locked in 5th Gear

So as the one who started this thread, I guess it's still a mystery why the bike locked up in 5th gear, regardless of whether the light for 6th comes on or not. I just wanted to find out if anyone a similar experience. I guess the only thing to do is document this with the dealer in case it happens again outside the warranty.
 
Any chance a rock or something was stuck in the levers or linkage? I'd look closely for loose bolts or even a mark where something may have bound up.
