personally i think ken livingstone should have got fined, wether he was ex mayor of london or not, mean had it been joe public he would have been fined and poss sentenced,so why sould people with money or of higher status get off scot free with not paying a fine??.

I think it's worse that he did it. Because he was the ex mayor of London and he was advocating for these types of things. He's a bad example. I think he should have gotten a 20pound fine. But unfortunately because of his status, he was let off. If you have money, you can do pretty much anything.

Ken Livingstone did not get off, he paid the fare, like 10 other persons on the same train; and has got humiliated by the press in front of the whole world. So you call that getting off, no. And the train company was right, rules of natural justice dictate that as a first offender, he should be given the opportunity to make good on the fare and if he then failed, he'd have to fined. Don't make a meal out of this, it is a perfectly human thing for one to forget; although I would not dare myself as they once ejected my husband rather roughly because his travelcard was not for the zone that we were travelling in (we didn't even know that!). Still, they did not fine him but asked him to pay the difference for his travelcard, and we were able to continue with our journey.

I agree with the answer above (aigus....). 10 other people were also let off... unless you can show they were all 'people with money or of higher status' then you have no argument

why do idiots never read the whole story, the company said they let off 11 people on that journey as they were all in the same situation. So 10 joe publics and ken livingstone bought their ticket later without getting a fine.

Try getting the whole story before jumping to conclusions!

Sentenced?! for not buying a ticket, It's £50 fine (less if you pay it early), you don't go to court for not buying a train ticket. Try and get back to the real world and focus your attention on real criminals.
