President Obama hoped to rebound from a poor performance as he squared off tonight against Mitt Romney in the second of their three nationally televised debates.
The incumbent Democrat and his Republican challenger were meeting for 90 minutes at the Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., in a debate sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates. Candy Crowley of CNN was the moderator for the townhall-style meeting, which was to focus on foreign policy.
