It's going to be a night a day difference. The tank is a lot more narrow. The suspension is stiff. It's not as comfortable as any of your jap bikes, but you get used to it. Comfort isn't really an issue for me.

The linear power or characteristic of a v-twin will give you a sensation of being slower than it really is. However, it will feel a lot torqueier (is that a word?) than your 600's though. Almost right in line with your 1000. You'll hit the rev limiters pretty quick. Just one blink and you'll be 0-120mph.

Necessary mod is a 14t. Don't leave home without it.

As for the heat, my legs cook before my ass does. Ass heat isn't a problem. Leg heat only happens in traffic

I'm in socal and nothing beats the feeling of stability in the canyons on the 848. It is flickable, maybe not as much as an R6, but the stability and handling is confidence inspiring. The 848 makes you work more, but it's worth it.

Riding a jap bike is kind of like driving a go-cart. Quick revs, fun, go-cart handling.

Riding a Duc (848) is like driving a racecar.

I wouldn't say one is better than the other, it's all down to personal preference. You get a very difference experience from it. You won't like it at first, because it's nothing like you are used to, but the feeling and addiction will build and you will be converted.

Personally if I were in the market and 3 or 4 grand didn't make a difference I'd get the 1198. Why get the 848 unless it was economics. I think if you looked into there is virtually no difference in weight. The 848 may seem more flickable due to the 180 rear tire, if it means that much go with the 180 rear you'll never use enough of the on tap Hp where you'd break loose the 180 and not the 190 on the street.

I think I'm going to go with the 848 and take the 3 grand and put it towards a slip on and a 14t front and then the dealersaid he would paint it black for 1500 since I'm in tha military
