little bit of a rant tell me if you agree or disagree.?

Right i've been looking at these baby name things and two things strike me. Do you people want your kids to get bullied. whats the point in picking horrible names for kids. yes by all means be original but some of these are just plain weird they sound made up and totally rubbish. also when asking for advice on naming your kids put down your surname that way people can actually give it some thought as to what names fit or don't as the case obviously is sometimes. and lastly surely if your grown up enough to get pregnant have a baby and raise it surely you'd be able to think about a name for your child.

*just to make a point my surname is kophamel. and the only name i can think of would be Amy Rose or Amelie Rose.* not too wierd but nice nonetheless well at least i think so lol but yeah im 19 and have no plans for kids for a good while yet.
My name is Matt. simple enough fits with my surname and has a nice enough meaning. and as for the reason for this rant i was in work today and this family of chavs came in with a name which escapes me but i remember feeling confused as to why someone'd pick such a strange name
 
totally agree!

and one other thing that annoys me. if they are old enough to get pregnant (as you said) surly they can spell the child's name!?!! WTF. Elizabeth is spelt Elizabeth not Alyizabeth.
Emily is spelt Emily not Amellie.
Jade is spelt Jade not Jaiyd.

i mean, seriously?!
it doesn't make you unique and trendy. it makes you look like an illiterate drug addict and your baby will have to take the sh*t for that it's whole life

People seem to dis - nice names. Being overly unique is becoming common. If that make sense. So many people are making up name and weird ones thats everyone going to have a weird name making it not unique anymore. Its a oxy moron. So who cares if the kid has the same name as 2 others. Muhammad is the most popular name in the WORLD and I have never meet a Muhammad. Its better that then them getting bullied or worse because of there name. Its the sad truth people need to relise. I like names that are classy, that the kid wont get made fun of, proper for there gender, will grow with them and has some meaning or somewhat correct spelling. I also hate trashy name or trash spellings.

*Get ready for the thumbs down on my response. Just my opinion sorry if you dont like it.

EDIT: Just want to make sure, I do like some quote on quote 'unique' names like Wyatt, Audrina and Dayton but nothing like Vanessa being spelt Vahnnessah.
 
agree and disagree.

some people have thought of names since they were little, like me* but maybe a weird name sounds unique for them. people just need to get over the whole, kids get bullied because of their names. I think the same names like your father or grandpa is silly. Why would you want to name your kid after your dad? wouldn't that remind you of your dad all the time? that's silly too but people think that's sweet. i guess it all depends on the person.
 
People obviously have diffrent tastes , not everyone is going to like your name . Who cares.

As long as you dont name your kid Pussyface or shit head
i dont care.
 
I tottally agree. i mean if people want to give their kids unique names, dont make them too unique where they get teased for their names. I mean Bronx Mowgli, Apple, all those other ones, come on. I mean i want my kids to have unique names (India and Ireland), but they arent waaaaayy out there. I agree with you.

On a completely related note, my best friend's wife works in whatever department of the hospital is that does birth certificates. She had a certificate last week with the name "La-a" written in.. Yes, that's the letter "L", the letter "a", a "-" and another letter "a".

In confusion, she went to the mother to ask if that was correct and the mother was upset. She went on to explain how the name was pronounced "La-DASH-ah".
 
My mum gave me a different name... and i never got bullied. Have you? what's your real name? 'cos you seem to be really bitter about the whole thing! such a small trivial thing!
 
I partially agree with you.

I agree that some names are completely bizarre and inappropriate and I just feel sorry for the child who'll have to put up with one of them. On the other hand, some people don't want to tell people their surname because they are worried about privacy. Also, being 'grown up' has nothing to do with having ideas about baby names. People (usually!) aren't incapable of thinking of names on their own, it's just that they may be unsure and wanting suggestions and/or opinions from other people just to make sure.
 
I feel mutually, but other people may disagree... but in other peoples eyes they may be good names, you may not like them, and i may not like them, but the parents might, and maybe there not worried about the kid getting bullied because they see nothing wrong with the name...

think about it...

P.S. i also hate the names Doyle and barrick and Ruffus, but the parents might love it.
Its not really your place to decide if the names are good or not...
 
I can totally agree.I am one of those unfortunate folks whose parents(my dad especially)wanted to be 'different'.Yeah right,I went through alot of bullcrap as a kid because my dad had issues about names.The problem is often that some parents are thinking of themselves and not their child's well-being.
 
i agree that some of the names people pick out are horrible, but i disagree that "surely if your grown up enough to get pregnant have a baby and raise it surely you'd be able to think about a name for your child". picking a name is hard because it is something the kid is stuck with, a little advice is nice to have
 
I don't mind original or a bit odd, but when you name your kid something weird that you just mished moshed together it sounds like trash. So agree.
