Little Big Planet: I'm 16 & cant use chat function?

I'm 16 and for some reason i cant use the chat on Little Big Planet on PS3. My sister whos 18 on her account can use it, however. So i was wondering if there is a way to change the security settings on my own account and how to do this? I changed the security to level 11 and then 'OFF' and neither made a difference but i guess that could be because i changed them and im only 16? :p i duno, how can i fix this problem? I dont want to make a new account because i'll lose my progress.
