Listen to the Song Above you and Than Post a Song

I've got it. I'll post response and new song.

I think from now on, as this thread gets more popular, we should post a "dibs" of sort when you go to download the song, due to the fact that in the time it takes to download, listen, formulate an opinion and upload a new song, a lot of people can be doing the same thing and then you get multiple answers and a messy thread
 
Okay heres how it works.

1. Someone posts a link to a song.
2. You post saying "dibs"
3. You listen to song and post what you think.
4. You upload a song and say some stuff about it.

Side note, i'm going to delete all the dibs post once you've posted about the song and post you're song. So if you see it disappear thats what happened since after you've already posted they're not necessary anymore.


People are probably going to hate this just because of who its by but i've been listening to it frequently since I heard it and the lyrics are just amazing, "Doctor Oppenheimer winced when he felt the broken piece of his pacemaker / Unbuttoned his shirt on a subway platform, clutching his chest while his vision blurred / He saw the bane of his creation. The destroyer of the world / Yeah, truth can lead to solace or a lifelong bender / It’s like wading through a wasteland where a town you loved once stood / You just cry each time you think of when times were good". It appear on a saddle creek compilation. Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley/Solo sings on it, shes also worked with the Elected, Cursive, M. Ward etc.

Ok, I'll bite. I'll admit I've never been a big fan of Bright Eyes, but that song's not bad. I like that super minimalist percussion. :)

So mine's "Take Pills" by Panda Bear. Strangely organic loops in the background, Brian Wilson-ish vocals in the foreground. I love how this song has several very different movements and I really like where the vocal melody enRAB up in the last third or so of the song. Here you go:

I'd never heard them before but been recommended them, I really liked that i'm going to check out more.

This is 60s folk in vein of Nick Drake, the songs "Love Song" by Vashti Bunyan. I think its one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. Vashti is an extremely underrated influential artist and more people need to check her out.

It just one guy actually, one of the merabers of Animal Collective. That whole album Person Pitch is terrific. i haven't heard any of his other albums, but from what I hear they're completely different from this.

Time to check out your next song...
 
Cool! I definitely dug that cello. Like a lot of 60s stuff I'll probably have to give this one a few listens before it totally sinks in.

While I'm feeling motivated here, how about another? This one is "Tug Boat" by The Book of Knots. It's neither old nor mellow but it has a great quiet/loud/quiet dynamic and their ability to turn dissonance into melody that sticks in your head blows my mind. The singer and violinst is Carla Kihlstedt, also of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Tin Hat Trio:

hummm. Well, I really liked that, it's my kinda music. I'll comment more once I find the song on my PC again, I lost it...

ok. well, while the vocals kind of annoyed me towarRAB the end, I liked this overall. the riff is quite catchy, full of body, and reverberates around the room like any good electric guitar sound like that should. All in all a good song and band, whom I will probably look more into.

Yeah that melody was great, it wasn't really my thing but it was still solid and kind of addictive I listened to it like three times in a row, i'll probably end up listening to it a few more times.

k, heres another one. This song is Million Dead's To Whom It May Concern, its probably my favorite song by them. They're sort of like the british version of at the drive-in though this song is kind of mellow for them but I like it alot right now. They broke up, their vocalist Frank Turner does a solo thing now hes one of my favorite vocalists/songwriters.

I don't have that album, I have one, the one that has Ruby on it. I was skeptical about anything else i'm going to get it. That song like most of there stuff i've heard is hella fun.

Right now its my favorite Neutral Milk Hotel song, Jeff is such an amazing lyricist.
 
It was good, the vocals kind of bugged me for some reason though.

I've been obsessed with this song ever since my girlfriend sent it to me. It kind of reminRAB me of the smiths, the lyrics are some of my favorites and its just a really good song.
