I have never had allergies in the past but for the past month I have had what I can only assume is some type of allergic reaction.

I get what is either a hive or some type of swelling on my lip. Specifically my upper right and sometimes the left will start as well. It isn't major swelling and the casual observer probably can't really tell but I know it's there and it is very irritating and annoying. It feels tight, dry, itchy and sometimes tingly.

I had this problem initially around July 2007. Went to the doctor and after two courses of prednisone it went away. Just resurfaced about a month ago.

I did go to the doctor again and got more prednisone but it does not seem to be going away. The doctor found it strange that this is my only symptom. I am unemployed and don't have insurance and can't afford another trip to the doctor or a visit to an allergist.

I have tried to stay away from things I thought might be causing it. Syrup, pizza, peanut butter. I have been addicted to chapstick for as long as I can remeraber and have stopped using that. I haven't eaten any new fooRAB recently. I don't know what else to try.

Sorry didn't know I couldn't post pictures.

Could be oral allergy syndrome. It only manifests on my lips though, nothing else.

How could I go about figuring out what food is causing this? I went about two weeks avoiding syrup, pizza, and peanut butter and it still didn't go away.

OAS typically is typically on the lips and caused by raw fruits. Have you eaten any raw fruits - peaches, apples, pears, strawberries, etc - before these outbreaks? If not, have you considered lipstick or medications as a cause?

Nope no fruit. The only fruit I have had recently was bananas.

As I mentioned I have also stopped my chapstick usage which could possibly have contributed somewhat.
