linear second order homogeneous ODE?

I need to show by means of the Wronskian, that a linear second order homogeneous ODE of the form y''(x) + P(x)y'(x) + Q(x)y(x) = 0 cannot have three independent solutions. (hints given: Assume a 3rd solution and show that Wronskian vanishes for all x)
I am having hard time solving this problem. Can anyone help me? Thank.
