Linear Algebra proof, linear transformation?

Let V and W be vector spaces with subspace V_1 and W_1, respectively. If T: V --> W is linear, prove that T(V_1) is a subspace of W and that {x: T(x) ? W_1} is a subspace of V.

Any hints on where to go with this? (or a complete A grade proof if you'd like)
