Lincoln Thirteenth Amendment?

Many sources concerning the thirteenth amendment and Lincoln state that he was "instrumental" in passing it. Some even call it "Lincoln's thirteenth amendment", what did Lincoln actually do in terms of helping the thirteenth amendment.
