I have a opportunity to buy a Lincoln Electric SA 200 for $4000, but I don't feel the machine is worth that because it has a front oil leak (very minor, only leaks when oil is hot) and is missing the side doors, needs paint and new faceplate. Also needs a new starter on it. Honestly, I think $2750 is a decent price because it seems like the motor has at least 1000 hours on it, head gasket residue, minor blow by at idle, just normal signs of wear. It starts up well and welds great.
What would be a better choice, I weld most of the time and was wondering if it would be more economic to use an engine welder like the SA200 or would it be more economical to use a 220V arc welder? I'm thinking that even if I don't make money with the machine, the amount it would save in electricity would pay for it.
Any opinion from any other Lincoln welders or professional opinions greatly appreciated...
thank you
