I'm right now writing a paper for History class over the Civil War. I've heard a theory tossed around lately about how Lincoln wanted a war, how he was trying to entice one to happen. Why would Lincoln want to start a war? How would he benefit from it?
Actually, it's not as outlandish as it seems. A war, for example, might've boosted Northern economy more than another tariff would.
