Light can only travel so fast. When you look up into the sky, you are seeing the light from years ago.
So if I wear to look at Jupiter I am seeing what it looked like in the past.
Does that mean, that if Io makes a transit in front of Jupiter; that transit happened years ago, or it is occurring at this moment?
I now understand that viewing Jupiter is looking only minutes into the past.
However the question still holds.
Is the Io transit happening at this moment, or minutes in the past; at the time of me viewing it.
