I read this news article today, and felt intensely optimistic! :Dhttp://thebulletin.us/articles/2009/01/22/top_stories/doc4978197ed574d242490045.txtHe might repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and supports the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a measure that would make it illegal for an employer to fire an employee because of sexual orientation."I am a longtime Hillary Clinton fan, but *if* Obama ends up doing these things I would be soooo happy!!! Please comment? )And please STAR, so that others may read this article and feel the hope! :D

Go Obama lol :Dparkerlydia88 your a dumba$$ blonde why are you in the LGBT section if you don't agree on same sex marriage?

go to whitehouse.gov and check his agenda on civil rights... it's in his plans to legalize same-sex marriage and get rid of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and pretty much liberate the LGBT community...

Oh I agree about the sexual orientation thing if they werent doing ANYTHING wrong. But marriage? uhhuh homeskillet. that is for a MAN and a WOMAN. the end.

There's no way he can get all that done in one term..... let's not get our hopes up. Repeal of DADT will come first and that has been delayed until 2010 — which is already half of his term

I also read that he was making an effort to repeal the "don't ask don't tell", policy so that openly gay people could serve in the military. I am really optimistic about the things he will do for the gay community, and I think there is going to be a lot of progress made these next 4 years in giving equal rights to gays!!!

I agree with Angela, to a point.Bill Clinton said the same thing about lifting the ban on Gays in the Military, but with such a public outcry, he backed down and gave ud DA DT.Obama may have the best intentions, but I think he is over loading his capabilities. Public out cry, especially from the Black Churches who are his constituents, will force him to back down and as usual, we'll gain nothing again.

I'm so proud to have Obama as my president! I truly believe he will do so much for not only the country, but for the LGBT's.

That's great! I'm straight, but it pisses me off to see that gays don't have the same rights we do!

IDK but YAY President Obama....He's gonna do wonderful things for this country and Gay rights!!

That is freaking awesome! I have many wonderful friends who just happen not to be straight. They deserve happiness.

Lets not forget it was Democrat President Bill Clinton that signed the "don't ask don't tell" policy in 1993.
