LG Rhythm (UX585) Help?

Whenever I put a Ringtone from Myxer on my Rhythm from U. S. Cellular, and try and set it as a Message alert or a Picture message alert, it plays a crappy default song. But if i set it as a Ringtone, it plays just fine. i dont know if theres something wrong with the file format or what. Please help!!!
