LG pink chocolate KG800 unlocked?

I bought a LG pink chocolate KG800 unlocked phone off of ebay i wanted to use it for at&t and i put my sim in it and it has no bars i can send a txt here and there but not very often is there anyway to fix this? Also bought one for my husband his is a LG black chocolate he gets service can make calls and everything but when you charge the battery full it dies completly in 5 mins!! why does his work and not mine? we go it from the same stock and everything
