Lg neon phone trouble?

I recently got the LG Neon new phone from AT&T in July, so about 6 months ago. For the first 2 months or so, the phone was great. Since then it has gone downhill. It will randomly shut off while I'm in the middle of texting, on a phone call, etc. Now the "red" button that disconnects phone calls and turns phone on and off stopped working, so when the phone randomly shuts down, it can take up to hours for me to turn my phone back on. Also, some keys you have to push down extremely hard for them to type such has the down key, v, etc. Another problem I have experienced with this phone is that my text messages sometimes won't come through for an hour at a time. It can be from 5 minutes to an hour and a half. Well thankfully I'm receiving the iPhone 3G for Christmas, but in the meantime should I send my Neon in to be repaired? I would like to be able to use it as a "back up phone" just in case. Is it worth going through that trouble or should I just deal with it until December 25th? Also there is no water damage because I have checked the indicator for possible water damage and it is very white.
