I have a lexus is200 ive just had the timbing belt replaced coz it snapped and some valves bent and went in the piston and broke so i had the head replaced too but know the car drives and runs fine now the oil light come on what could it be.

How much would a new engine cost.

Start by changing the oil + filter ASAP
New engine = loads of money
Get yours checked out first

Hi
IF the oil light has come on it means you have lost oil pressure in the engine .

If a garage did this work for you i would be tempted to take it back to them .

Your best alternative is to try and get a good engine from a wreckers yard but make sure you go and see it in the car before you buy just to make sure it is a crashed car not a nail car OK .

On your own engine you really need an oil pressure check done most garages can do this for you but do not drive it get it towed or transported .

Hope this helps

A new engine from Toyota would be about £6000 to 7000

Engines are one of the main costs of the car. If they need to be replaced they can run into £1000's.

Garages are likely to avoid you doing it as in the long run its not worth it. You can if you want but I wouldn't.
