Lexmark photo ink cartridge, can I use some, remove and store until later

to print more photos? I have a Lexmark Photo cartridge and wondered if it all had to be used at once. The printer holds two cartridges, one black and one color. THe photo cart. replaces the black slot in my printer, if I install and print some photos, then can I reinstall the black and store the Photo cartridge for later photo printing?
