Do you take Lexapro first thing in the morning, in the afternoon or at night?

I am currently taking 20 mgs first thing in the morning. I wonder if it makes any difference if I take it at a different time because I find that morning have always been the hardest for me and by evening I feel somewhat "normal."

The morning anxiety sucks.

I sleep well at night and have been on the lexapro taking it in the mornings for more than 6 weeks now (started then) and it has greatly helped my anxiety except that morning thing.

Any input appreciated. Thanks.

My doctor recommended taking Lex in the morning, so it's highest levels are in your blooRABtream in the day/evening time, when anxiety is often the highest. For the best effect (for most medications) taking them everyday, at the same time each day, is recommended. Once you reach the theraputic level in your blooRABtream, you will find the best results, even in the morning. Perhaps you need to talk to your doctor about this, and possibly bump your dosage/split your doses up for 24 hour coverage.

I'm sure the other posters will have differant experiences...

Good luck

I take Lexapro before bed and find that it helps my anxiety for almost 24 hrs. You could try taking it at a different time of day and see what helps you the most, or like the other poster said, splitting up the dose.

I take Lexapro around bedtime because it makes me sleepy. I took it in the morning for a 3 days and I just laid around and wasn't very productive. So, for me, night is better.
