Lexapro- stopped taking now getting hives

I was on lexapro for anxiety for about 6 months. My life has calmed down and I am feeling very good. I have gained 15lbs while taking lexapro, because of this and with my life getting back to normal I quit taking lexapro on May 8, 2010. I noticed a rash on May 15th and it keeps getting worse and it has spread. I have not changed my detergents or anything like that.
It has got me to thinking in some way it is connected to not taking the lexapro anymore. Has anyone else experienced this? Plus today my whole body hurts....
 
In general, its best to quit SSRI's slowly, rather than iin one go..... for examply, 3/4 of a pill per day for 3 days, 1/2 a pill daily for 3 days, then 1/4 of a pill for 3 days.

That said, rash isnt usualy a discontinuation effect - I would try taking an antihistamine for that, such as Zyrtec, and using some hydrocortisone cream three times a day.

If it persists, then restarting your lexapro and seeing what happens would be a possability.
