Lets talk about Cobain

I read a lot of shit talking on OT about kurt cobain. I dont know about you guys, but I love the guy. His music was all about having fun. Lots of people called it violent, angry, whiny, or whatever..but I think it was more about playing as sloppy as he wanted, as good as he wanted, or however he wanted to play at the time. Its just simple songs that can be played in any way you feel it should be.

For example, the song Polly has a few different versions that feel completely different. He could play an arena show and go off the wall screaming, or he could play acoustic, and hit every note perfectly.

why do people hate on it so much?

i dont associate what the person does in their life with the music they make during it. Why should it matter that he killed himself?

There are conspiracy theories about his death....

Anyway, Cobain's music was strongly about freedom... the ability to say what you want and do what you want without anybody saying other wise. That kind of mentality is something that inspires me to do whatever the hell i want with my life.

but why quit making that great music? cuz he'sa selfish batard thats why....he didt give a crap about you guys buying into his thoughts/lyrics, and I USED to like nirvana

Right on

So true, I was a gun fan back in the day, The dude sold out to his fans and to major labels, all he cared for was himself.

He thought he was too cool for everyone, so arogant.
But he was really just a girly little bitch.

umm, why the fuck would he care if you liked it or not? His whole message is about doing whatever the fuck you want to do, to be yourself, and to do it with passion. You're not supposed to be caring what everyone else thinks of you.

"I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guilty beyond worRAB about these things. For example, when we're backstage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowRAB begin, it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun."

are you talking about Axl selling out? Cobain didn't think he was too cool for anyone. He felt that he was supposed to be somebody he wasn't anymore.

"I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away."

If he had continued on, playing with nirvana for all his fans so every fucking one of you could hear some new songs by him, it would have been impassionate, it would have been fake, and to him "thats one of the worst crimes".

i see where you're coming from, but I think cobain was much less greedy and therefore more likeable than axl.

music-wise, nirvana does a lot more for me, however, GnR kicks major ass.
