Let's say you want a second, small bike, something to work on!

When I was a kid, I rode a '59 Jawa CZ 175, all I could afford. My friends all had HONDA CB 160's. We all liked the Triumphs and of course, who could walk by a BSA without staring at that medallion. A lot of great suggestions guys, thanks for all the input. I'm pretty sure I want a bunk mate for the Limited, now it's just a question of which one, and how soon I can make funds disappear from one location, and reappear in another. Of course after that I will have to consider what setup I will need to provide basic maintenance for the "new" bike, but we''ll leave that for the future and a "new thread".

Yamaha XS650 twin. Cheap, rock sold reliable, classic styling, and www.mikesxs.com has about every part (new and reproduction) you can imagine. I've seen them restored, bobbed, made into street fighters and flat trackers, you name it!.

If you want to stay in the HD end look for an 04/05 883 Sportster . Their cheap , easy to find and usually low mileage. And since it's a Harley you'll be able to spend as much money as you have trying to make it seem like a new modern bike . Actually suspension and engine up-grades make a sporty a lot of fun . Check out what the Sporty guys are doing on this forum as well as the Sportster forum . Lots of great info being shared but take some of the "Experts " advice with a grain of salt .

I kind of like the idea of a V-Twin and a side by side, but then If you're doing an American and a "metric", that would lead to added costs on tools, no" forgive the ignorance. Again just want to keep it simple at first, and cheap, but since I've got the Harley, I think something different and foreign would be fun! Right now I don't think I want two HD's, as they say, "and now for something completely different"

I really like the early XS650's, those are a great suggestion. A friend has a '71, almost completely original. I've ridden it once, it is an enjoyable bike. Stock exhaust sounds excellent, really torquey, etc.

I have a '74 CB550 four, it was my first bike so I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons. It's smooth, easy to ride, and fun. Problem is it doesn't have much character, it looks vintage but my Road King feels like more of a vintage motorcycle than the Honda!

When I was looking for a project I decided to build a cafe racer out of a 79 Yamaha SR500. Lots of stuff on the net to help you and tons of fun once you get on the road!

Thanks for the pics, looks cool, I'm thinking "bobber", but still a lot of time and planning to do, I can spend the upcoming winter looking around for the "right" bike. This all sounds like great fun at manageable expense! BTW, your space looks huge and immaculate, wish I could say the same!
