Here's a logical fallacy for you: to believe that the Ottomans would decide to systematically eliminate a peoples for no other reason but their ethnicity, after having a 500-600 year track record of religious/cultural tolerance. Where do you think the Jews who got booted from Spain back in the day ended up?
If you want an unbiased historical account with first-hand/second-hand evidence of what really went down, read this book:
http://openlibrary.org/books/OL7244175M/Armenians
It was written by a Brit in 1916, and is the most unbiased + comprehensive source on the issue... Oh, but wait, you have already bought in to the Armenian side of the story, what do you care about unbiased sources and first-hand/second-hand evidence contradicting their claims?
I do have to say I admire the fact that the Armenians have found that in a Democratic society, through lobbying (giving monies to politicians/promising votes, etc.) anything can be accomplished. Just like having ever American politician out there who has taken money from AIPAC coming out and defending Israeli actions on the mavi marmara, when the whole world realizes that what was done was an act of barbarism and savagery.
They just haven't been successful in the USA yet, because Turkey is still an important strategic ally that the USA cannot risk losing over some wah wah historical revisionism. Who knows, now that Turkey has become the next Iran overnight (thanks to Israel for that) maybe the Armenians in the USA will finally get their wet dream wish in the coming years...
Oh, and while your at it, why dont YOU defend all of these actions:
Intervention and Exploitation: US and UK Government International Actions Since 1945
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Blum/US_Interventions_WBlumZ.html
...and this is just from 1945 onwards.
You circle jerk buddies have some work to do.
Here's what I predict will happen: You will not read the book. You will try and discredit my point of view with some rah rah bullshit. You will then accuse me of diverting the issue by throwing US foreign policy in the mix. You will realize that this is just mirroring the whole point of this thread (take focus away from Israel, and have troll fun with the one Turk who posts in here).
Here is what will happen: I will not post itt anymore, unless a) you read the book and systematically deconstruct and disprove the facts therein.
Oh shit, this thread was about "cypress" though right. Ok then:
Cypress is the name applied to many plants in the cypress family Cupressaceae, which is a conifer of northern temperate regions. Most cypress species are trees, while a few are shrubs. Most plants bearing the common name cypress are in the genera Cupressus and Chamaecyparis, but several other genera in the family also carry the name. The word "cypress" is derived from Old French "cipres", which was imported from Latin "cyparissus," the romanization of the Greek "κυπάρισσος" (kyparissos).
