Let go of gas when shifting? Dirt bike.?

Hey um well i recently got a motorbike however im not to sure on somethings about the shifting with clutch and gas. the thing is that when your in the midst of shifting do you let go of the gas? i mean like stop acceleratin? then when your done do you re apply the accelerating? THANKS
