less time in cinemas

Could it be possible to show a movie for like 1 month then release it on dvd a week later?. Because the movie doesnt need to be in the cinema that long, or does everyone disagree?.
 
I think leaving it in the cinema for just a month doesn't give people enough chance to experience the film in a cinema-environment.

On the flip side, there is the chance that nobody will visit the cinema and just wait for the DVD to be released - therefore fu*king the cinema industry up hugely!
