I signed up for a gym membership about 4 months ago. I was a full time student at the time and still am. My parents used to help me with money and so I could afford it. That was working fine, until they decided they could no longer help me pay for my expenses. In order to pay for everything I am working two jobs and studying... but that just means I have no time for the gym anymore anyways! I am paying just over 80 dollars a month for a gym I don't attend!
As a student, I clearly cannot afford this but when I signed up I didn't realize this would happen. I called the gym and asked if there was a cheaper option for me so I could still attend if I could find time. Not only did they say I couldn't down grade, but I cannot cancel either. I have to pay our my entire contract which will last 8 more months of 80-something dollars!
Is there any possible way that I can cancel. The gym said I can only cancel for medical reasons or if I am bankrupt! It just doesn't seem fair to me. I might have to cancel my entire bank account that they direct debit from and open another so I wont be charged anymore- but am I even allowed to do that??
I am also having the hardest time trading the membership because apparently I signed up for one of the most expensive ones that gym has? (don't ask me how i got sucked into this! I have no idea!)
