After being in law school for 2 years (going into 3L), I was reading a recent SCOTUS case and realized that in the 2+ years I've been in law school I don't think I've ever seen a brief or opinion that references the Declaration of Independence as any type of legal authority (even persuasive). I mean I can imagine the types of arguments against citing to the Declaration, but I was curious if anyone had any insight on why that document, arguably the most important document in our nation's founding, gets no respect from attorneys and jurists alike?
