Leg Pain?

Hi everybody, my sister has been getting pain in her leg as soon as she wakes up in the morning and it last throughout the day, She is a big walker but she has been all of her life and this pain just started a month ago. Does anyone know what this could be from? Thanks for your help!

Moe, I remember you from the sleep disorders boards...but didn't remember your outcome. Reviewed your recent posts and would suggest you review the Lyme Diseases boards for your situation, and perhaps, your sisters'....

Take care and let us know how you fare.

Hello Moe,

It might be a good idea to go to the doctor...vitamin deficiencies and meds cause many, many leg problems but often the symptoms occur at night. Best have a doctor's opinion and then check out the opinion BEFORE acting on that opinion as doctors can be way off the mark, at times.

PS I believe poor circulation and/or heart problems can cuase leg pain, also.

Bethsheba, I thought I remembered your name. You were very helpful over on the sleep disorder page as well. My sleep study showed that I only had mild sleep apnea and because of my age they didn't want to put me on a CPAP. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but my sister was not. Is Lyme disease similar to fibromyalgia? Thanks so much again for your help.

I think it is very strange that they didn't want to put you on cpap because of your "age"...very strange. If you have mild apnea, you shouldn't need treatment at all!! but if treatment is recommended, cpap, in my opinion, is the treatment of choice. But that's another thread.

Some people on the lyme disease boards were diagnosed with fibro, only to find out later that what they really had was lyme's! Seems many of the symptoms are similar. Many with lyme's have muscular/skeletal issues...that's just one reason I suggest you read at least the symptoms on the lyme boards (but I recommend that you read more).

I've had leg pain and I've read of many others who have also but those of us with restless leg/periodic iimb movements/nutritional deficiencies often experience movement/pain when we're resting or sleeping...not when we wake up! So your sister's situation is different from my experience and the experience of many others...but again, do review the lyme boards keeping in mind that MOST doctors are unfamiliar with the accurate diagnosis and treatment of lyme.

Take care, Moe, and keep in touch. I'll be thinking of you and of your sister.
