Left anarchists: Is your primary goal the elimination of all things vaguely...

...capitalistic...? Or do you actually oppose state power?

I just returned from an "anarchist" workshop in my humble little town in the redwoods and I gotta say I was a bit disappointed. I saw a lot of people crusading about the evils of bottled water and how all restaurants should be boycotted because the employees have to stand for long periods of time (oh the humanity) and how we should be spelling the word "women" with a "y" (womyn) for the bizarre purpose of eliminating "men" from the suffix but I didn't see a whole lot about striking at the root of state power. A lot of these various crusades involved signing a petition to lobby the state for crying out loud! What kind of anarchist lobbies the state to try and remedy their pet project? There was some anti cop and anti military stuff which was decent but unfortunately virtually everybody in attendance had horrible body odor and grooming habits which made it difficult to breathe so I couldn't stay long.

They didn't look like yuppies. I was the most clean cut person there and I haven't shaved in a few days.

I'm glad you asked. Well I saw a lot of greasy hair, acne, clothing that appeared to be inspired by a combination of hippie, gothic and military style and generally 2 sizes too small. There were random dogs walking around and kids playing on the dirty floor. There were a lot of piercings and tattoos as you might imagine. And a not too pleasant combination of smells including patchouli, bo, organic vegetarian food and dog feces filled the small crowded room.
