leave work for college?

I have been working really hard running a very busy kitchen, and have brought the stcks and standards up ALOT! they were going to promote me to the kitchen manager instead of team leader but just found out now that they are getting someone else in... it saves them money! what a kick in the teeth that is for me. the thing is.. i really want to go to college or uni, we have just taken out a mortgage on a house and trying to put our daughter in child care which is all costly things. but me not having any qualifications means it's going to be nearly impossible for me to get another job especailly the way things are at the moment. i live in the uk by the way. just feels like i try soooo hard at things and it never gets me any where!
 
You could look into part-time courses at college, you'll be knackered but it wouldn't be forever and would be worth it the end.
