Hi, does anyone know what the least sedative med is (Valium? xanax? etc.) to help me sleep. I've been taking lexapro for almost a month with hardly any problems, and suddenly now I am waking up after 2 hours sleep, unable to go back to sleep. I feel like a zorabie and can't function. Could this be a permanent side effect? I hate to take anything else, but this is now causing anxiety I didn't have before - I never had sleep problems. I have an inner ear disorder and Lexapro has seemed to stop all that dizziness, although now I'm out of it from no sleep. Thanks so much.

Hello, I just responded to a thread about Lexapro and insomnia above.

Try talking to your doctor to find something to help you sleep - there are lots of options. I take trazodone to sleep. And of course there are prescribed sleep aiRAB. Melatonin is a natural drug you can take (find it in the supplement section at the drug store). Good luck!

Thanks, I didn't even think of Melatonin. My doc called in a script for Lunesta. Of course, he wants me to increase dose of lexapro from 5 to 10 mg. I'm terrified - If I can't sleep now, what will more do to me? He claims it isn't working because the dose is not a therapeutic dose, but I have never had insomnia before, so I am absolutely certain it's the Lexapro.
