I’m a 17 year-old guitarist and I’m really trying to pick up music theory. In fact, I’m trying to master it.
When I was younger, I learned a little piano and trumpet. I picked up a decent amount of music theory but there are definitely some gaps in my education.
I suppose I’ll start at what I wish to accomplish: writing an entire symphony without hearing a single note (Beethoven style baby!). I’ve got lots of ideas in my head but I cannot seem to put them to paper yet and I certainly think music theory will help with this.
I understand composers of the past could write for every instrument, most doing so on the piano. 1. Is this true, and 2. Has it/can it be done on guitar?
And last but not least, could anybody recommend books/videos/online courses you think would be beneficial?
Thanks again,
Dom
