Learning how to drive a car Help?

I'm 16 and I got my permit in May. Unlike my other friends who immediately got their permit and started driving I have hardly driven at all. I don't understand how to learn to drive. I dont want to practice driving on the main roads where there are other cars!! What if I crash? UGH. Whenever my parents try to get me to drive with them we go to quiet roads, however there are always some other cars on the road that freak me out and make me nervous. I hate driving so much and i get so scared. I am supposed to get my license in November, but considering I haven't even started the driving lessons i dont know if that will happen. Does anyone have any tips on how to learn? Or where to learn? Anything will help. Thanks.
 
I remember going through that. This is gonna sound kinda dumb but find an empty parking lot and bring some empty ceral boxes, or other stuff that doesn't matter if it gets run over and won't hurt the car. Throw them around the lot and practice running over them with each front tire. This will give you a good idea of just how big the car is and where the sides are. That way you will know if you are in your lane and whether that car getting ready to pass you is gonna miss you or not.

And don't forget to pick up that trash when you're done running over it, don't wanna litter.
