Learning guitar from books?

Hey guys.
Today i was wondering if I could learn how to play guitar from books all on my own? I have never played an instrument. So basically, have no musical background. I was wondering if it is possible for me to learn? I know it won't be a walk in the park but can i theoretically speaking succeed? (I am 16 if it changes things)

I'm learning guitar too. I've taught myself using books and the computer. But, my cousin is an amazing guitarist and he's promised to teach me.

I think it's highly possible for you to learn on your own as long as you aren't creating bad habits for yourself. If what you're learning is correct and you can understand it...well then, you'll succeed. But, you need to have the ability to practice at least 30 Min's a day and you must have patience - skills of a guitar god aren't gonna magically show in one day lol.
