So I am having a new house built, anticipated move is July 12th. I am not a contract.

What kind of lead time would I need for the "move" installation? All BEV has to do is mount the dish and point. I am having a professional do all my structure/LAN/Sourround sound wiring and they are running the 4 quad shielded coax from my equipment room in the basement to the point for the dish.

I may move to HD PVR "IF" the new ones are available then. If not then I will wait to upgreade.

Thnx
Bill

Its good that you're pre wiring everything, but since your not on contract and already a subscriber.. i believe that you will have to pay for installation of the dish unless you sign a contract. Someone correct me if im wrong please!

As for move time.. Let bell know at LEAST 1 month ahead of time.. and get them to install the dish before you move in there if at all possible.. It will save u time if theres any problems or if the installer no Shows.

Good luck!!;)

1 month ahead is a good delay. My best advice DON'T DO AN ORDER TO MOVE ALL YOUR SERVICE THROUGHT BELL CANADA, when you do a multiple service move in most case the BEV part doesn't get done. It's better if you call each departement seperate. Bell Canada will advise you they can do it all taught. Start by Bell Canada as we will ask you your new telephone number.

Fees for a move is free install for the 1st receiver, than 50$for each other receivers

If you order a HD PVR you will have to do it before of after the move as there can not be two orders for the same account in the system. We have promos right now for free installation of upgrade kit and HD receivers. You pay for the upgrade piece and get refunded on you BEV account.

seeing as you are doing all of the work (or your contractors are)
insist that the switch be mounted inside, so you can hook up additional boxes yourself, and save up to $150, if you have 4 boxes
a good friend, thought he would teach the bell installer a lesson, by running all of the lines himself (paid the builder), and getting him to install the dish and 1 box ( he was upset that the "free move" only included 1 box)
after the installer left, he went to hook up the additional boxes, and found out that the installer, only hooked up 1 box, as requested, and did install the switch, that was ordered, but installed in behind the dish, 16' in the air!

Thnx for all the responses. I already have a SW44 and it will be mounted in my equipment room where the patch panel will be.

Make sure you have a look at the tech's work order...often all receivers numbers shows on the work order and even if they install 1 receiver you get charged for the other ones. Do not sign it if more than one receivers shows.

Also if he just run in the cable to the house from the dish this is considered installation of additional receivers

There have been some very good pieces of advice offerered so far and I would like to add one more for you.

If you are running Quad Shield RG6, I would suggest that you have a supply of connectors available as these are not standard equipment and I would imagine that very few Installers would carry them.

When a tech get the job from SEFAS it will sometimes tell him the number of receivers that the customer has on the account, this is almost never the same as the number of receivers that the customer is having installed.....lol

You are not quite correct about "Also if he just run in the cable to the house from the dish this is considered installation of additional receivers", this is considered an "Additional Line", which is charged at $50 per line.

Secondly, We have promos right now for free installation of upgrade kit and HD receivers. You pay for the upgrade piece and get refunded on you BEV account., well again not quite correct. If it is an existing Customer who already HAS any programming from Nimiq 2, they ARE NOT entitled to any refunds at all.

An existing Customer who is only getting Single Sat reception, is entitled to a refund in the form of Programming Credits, for "all activity and equipment required to install the HD receiver and/or Upgrade Kit". This amount can be quite considerable, usually in the $225 region and is a constant stumbling block for the installers as in most cases the CSR told the Customer that it would be "Free".....lol

Nimiq 1 you are not telling me anything new...I already new all that. I said that we have promos for the Nimiq 2 upgrade cause the poster said HE IS THINKING OF MOVING TO HD PVR, meanning that he most probably at time does not have the upgrade kit and IS ELIGIBLE for the promotion

As I mentionned before if we do a move order there is a 50$ for the install of the second, third and fourth receiver...if the tech just runs in the line from the dish to the house there is also a 50$ so the client who thinks on doing that thinking he would save money since tech didn't actually "install" the receiver is not saving, he has to pay the same amount for less work done!

Nimiq 1 you won't tell a senior agent, best of her team on the last pay, things so basic like that...

There you go, assuming the customer does NOT have an upgrade Kit at his current location. I believe you will see from the above that he indeed HAS an SW44, this would imply that he has Nimiq 2 programming and is NOT eligible for ANY rebates.

Why is this important information hardly ever checked before the call with the customer is conclded.

If CSR's did their jobs correctly and verified reception of Nimiq 2 signals while on the phone with the customer, either through asking, Sorry I know its a radical aproach, or even looking at the programming they receive, then two very important things happen. 1, The customer is kept informed and can make an informed decision on extra charges etc and 2, the Technician does not get it in the neck when he arrives on site and starts to explain the charges to the customer. Who, I may add, almost always says "The CSR told me it was a FREE Move".

As I said earlier, I have a SW44 but NOT Nimiq 2 input. I have my original single sat. dish with single dual LNB. I purchased the SW44 when I went to a 5200 with a second receiver of a 2700.

Nimiq 1 I certainly would not assume that the client doesn't have the upgrade kit before saying there would be no charges. I'M NOT STUPID! As I said, last pay I was the agent with the biggest bonus in my team, so I guess i'm doing my job better than lots of my collegues!

-I mentionned that there is 50$ charge for the second and third unit (I that case third line, as it goes on the same receiver) so no, I NEVER SAID THAT IT WAS A FREE MOVE

Client said he was THINKING about getting HD, that's why I assumed he didn't had the upgrade kit. And I was right. Of course if I was at work I would have been able to verify the programming, would have asked him maybe if he could see the dish and so on.

Another point, if he was moving and adding the upgrade kit that he didn't had before, this would be considered as 2 separate order and us CSR would do the move order, than transfer him to Direct Sales (some CSR got training on how to do it lately, but I was absent that day so I missed it) and they would do the order for the upgrade kit. They would be the ones teling him the exact cost, not the CSR (unless the CSR is trained to put in the system the order)

billw, then with this fact estanlished you are indeed entitled to a rebate if you choose to add an HD receiver to your line up. You will even get the SW44, so you could then sell yours to recover even more of the cost.

I would advise that you make sure that TV's and receivers are available at the time the Installer arrives as without them he can and most likely will, walk away from your installation without them, as per Express Vu's rules of engagement.

There is no reason why an order cannot be generated for the installation of an extra receiver along with the Move Order.

Verify for yourself by calling our Direct sales... A move order and the installation of an additionnal receiver or upgrade kit will be 2 seperate orders!

Agent Express V, please re-read my reply. I NEVER said it would be one order now did I.?

It will come out as 2 seperate orders, OMC or OMX, whatever. There is no reason they cannot be carried out at the same time by the same Tech.

I was asking this same question today during a conversation with Express Vu and I am told that it is possible to add equipment to a Move Order but it has never been done as the norm because of issues with the internal systems, Order Max and ???? (cant remember what they said the other was, FWFM.? maybe, sorry can't remember). In the near future it should be possible and I am told that certain CSR's have been doing this in the past, although they should not have as it does not generate revenue for Express Vu because if you are adding another receiver there should always be a $75 charge levied. If done within a Move this cannot be done.
