The equilibrium mixture is Water and Thymol Blue Indicator.
They give 2 equilibrium equations:
H2Tb- <--> H+ + HTb- and HTb- <--> H+ +Tb2-

So first question is:
Why is there 2 equations?

Second question is:
After adding HCl will it shift to the left due to the adding of hydrogen ions?
After adding NaOH to the mixture and HCl what will happen?? Does the HCl have nothing to do with the adding of NaOH because the equilibrium makes up for itself? Or does it affect things? And what side does it shift to?

Help will be greatly appreciated!
