LDS, Mormons, How do you argue with "GOD told me HE was Adam?"?

1. If a LDS prophet states that GOD cam to him and really told him something, would it not be considered TRUE??

Thoughts?

Brigham Young said GOD TOLD him ADAM was GOD. Also that this teaching was doctrine.

(This quote also means God wants LDS to procreate too. With the polygamy of the time.)

2.HOW could a future prophet NOT believe that GOD told Brigham THIS? And the prophet still refute it?

3. Would you not think that Young totally lied about God talking to him and telling him this information?

Can you answer 1, 2, and 3?

You must be quoting the book of mormons.....
It is not the bible....
God does not talk directly to any one....
prophets or otherwise.....
Jesus was the great prophet....and the bible is all we need....
We can only approach God through Christ....
Anything else would be misleading many.....
 
Perhaps you should pull the article and read the whole thing. Brigham is not saying that we worship Adam, we worship God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, and if you read Brigham's other writings it is very evident that Brigham never prayed to Adam. When you read the article you will find that the doctrine Brigham is teaching is that our God, God the Father, set up Adam to also be a father, and so every man ought to strive to be a loving husband and father.

I understand the the eastern orthodox church believes something similar they call Deification. When we become like Christ, we, like Christ, will be gods. We will never usurp Christ as our god but to those kingdoms and dominions which are ours we will have the same power and authority and mind as Christ.

It would be considered likely to be true until I got a second opinion from the Holy Ghost. Prophets are only human, and sometimes teach their opinions as doctrine, too. If you're demanding perfection from us before you will accept us, then logically you must reject every other religion on the planet -- and atheism for good measure -- on exactly the same grounds. You really should have thought your rant through before making yourself look foolish.

Next, prophets don't always understand what God tells them. You know very well that Paul used to think that Jesus would return shortly, even during his lifetime.

If Brigham Young said that GOD TOLD him that ADAM was GOD, and that this was doctrine, then I'm afraid I'm going to have to tell you that the Lord said, "I have said, ye are gods -- and all of you are children of the Most High." Since Adam was a good man who died before Jesus' resurrection, he might have been one of those who was resurrected and rose from his grave. Naturally, he probably would have been much too far away to go into the holy city (Jerusalem), but he could right now be enjoying eternal life (and I notice that you lack either the honesty or the knowledge to persecute the Orthodox religions for their belief in the divine origin, purpose, and destiny of humanity).

Adam is also believed by many to be the progenitor of the human race.

I have no reason to trust you nor your citation. How do I know that you have quoted Young correctly? Adam is the father of our race and, if we really do share Jesus' power by sitting with him in his throne, he is a god by now as well. (I notice that in your quotation, Young did not say that Adam was our Father and our God, just our father and [a] God.

Now turn it around. What if Young had actually been discussing God and comparing him to his children instead? That makes a lot more sense of the quote than your hostility does. Then he might have called God "Adam" to mean "many" or the progenitor of the human race as well as our God, and to emphasize his human qualities, which is the same as emphasizing our divine qualities. I know what Young said, and I do believe that he was a prophet, but I am not required to have an infallible prophet. I'm pretty sure God can say things that people sometimes misunderstand, like the nature of his relationship with his son, Jesus.

What he doesn't believe is how people twist it and take it out of context. None of us who understands his religion believes that the man Adam is our Father in Heaven, the Most High God. If you understand what Young wrote, then you are not honest. If you are honest, you do not understand.

Actually, that doesn't even qualify as a nice try. "Never attribute to malice that which is sufficiently explained by stupidity."

Our prophets are not popes. They do not have to be infallible. If they made something up, they would have to understand it. If Brigham Young, in his confidence or pride, thought he understood something better than he did or lacked the eloquence to explain it properly, that would actually incline me more to investigate it as a possible truth.

You are not interested in truth. You are a wolf in the fold whose intention is to mislead and destroy. Good for you. You got what you wanted.
