ok so i tottaly dont get claim warrant impact. So i one of my contentions was that is has better consequencs (is that my claim), then i say that it saves more lives (that is my warrant or is that my claim) then what in the world is my impact?

OK...knowing your topic would help me better...but here's an example that might clarify.

Your claim is your contention. (Example: Corporal Punishment has better consequences of long term behavior changes)
claim=better consequences

Your warrant is the reasoning or what "warrants" that claim. (Example: long term behavior changes are evidenced in studies from chilren who received corporal punishment)

Your impact is how the contention affects parties involved. (Example long term behavior changes)

Does that clear it up a little bit? I wish I had your contention point and topic so I could help you, but at least that might help you break it down better!

Good luck to you!
