Law & Order: LA

I heard the chung chung (which Richard Belzer has called the sound of Dick Wolf's cash register racking up more millions of $) at least once.

This has to be the most pointless spin-off ever.

It was OK but not something we haven't seen 1000 times before. I may watch once in a while but it won't be on my regular viewing list.

I'm a big L&O fan, seen every episode of the original (two or three times at least), but this left me pretty cold. Hope it'll pick up a bit.

I have seen every episode of the original. Every episode of SVU. Every episode of CI. Every episode of Trial By Jury. I have even seen every episode of the UK remake, except the last one, since they air a week later in Canada than the UK. But you know what? I draw the line here. I am not even going to bother checking out the pilot of the LA one. Maybe it is great. I just don't care. I have faithfully watched spin-off after spin-off but at a certain point it is too much, a bridge too far, and my gut is telling me this is the point.

The US reviews have been pretty mixed and a general theme was that by trying to be too much not like the other Law and Order shows it ended up being like all the others that were not Law and Order,

As such antiseptic.

One review that I read appeared to suggest there WAS a version of the theme tune.

Was it dropped after the reviewer saw it but prior to transmission?

It did okay in the US ratings but it could well lose a lot next week if the reviews are reflected amongst general viewers.

Hopefully, this will force them to tweak upcoming episodes.

If it is just yet another California cop show it is a WOT. Its one saving grace is that it is Law and Order and so we have expectations. The franchise dispenses with these at their considerable risk.

Is there a UK home for this yet? Or will it just be on Hallmark as was/Universal as will be?

Skeet Ulrich is an interesting actor.

Trivia: L&O SVU (or Law and Order: The SUV as Christopher Moltisanti called it in The Sopranos) crossed over with L&O LA in the latest episode of L&O SVU S12E03.

Det. Benson travels to LA to get some information from her counterpart there (perhaps the phones and internet were down?) and we are introduced to Det. Rex Winters (Ulrich).

Alfred Molina is the LA D.A.

First episode broke no new ground but was decent IMHO.
