late 90's ford car question?

i have a ford contour and when i put the car in to gear while it is cold it boggs down but doesn't shut off, then when i accelerate it has no power, and when i hit third gear it abnormally losses rpm's then shakes violently then when i give it some more gas it stops. I figured it was the oxygen sensor so i changed them and that didn't work. the computer scan read it was an oxygen sensor malfunction so i have no clue what to do. i asked a mechanic and he said they probably all are related to the same problem. If you could help me figure it out it would be greatly appreciated.

How does it run when it is warm? Try a vacuum test on the motor sounds like that is what will pinpoint your problem if it is an all the time problem. If not and the problem is only with a cold engine then check your cold start system it could be flooding when cold.
