I'll try to keep this short
I was dx'd with an annular tear at the L4/L5 disc in Septeraber. I was given a medrol pack (prednisone) for the inflammation. To this day I wish I never would've taken any of it!! From day 1 I had hot flashes/sweats, it went downhill from there...stopped taking it after 3rd day and endured extreme hot flashes, sweating, flushing over entire body and a week later my blood pressure was 160/99.
It's now the end of Deceraber and I still seem to have some residual effects from the prednisone. Anytime I take something natural that contains a hormone (example would be a natural sleep aid that ended up containing melatonin), all of those side effects of the prednisone return to the point I can't function for at least a day and then remain very hot and sweat easily for several days. I can't get into my endocrinologist until the end of January.
I can be much more careful of what I take until that time but what scares me are the "accidents"...I just had another episode because I took too much otc sinus meRAB!
Has anyone experienced anything like this?? How long does it take for the effects of a medrol pack to wear off? I can handle some night sweats and some flushing but not the incapacitation!
