last fall as i squeezed something in my hand, got sharp pain?

What would cause a sharp pain from holding something tightly in one hand, that shot up inner arm to shoulder , down to side to about line where bra is? went to doctor, said must have pulled muscle, just temporary, but still have & now says live with it! Want to know what it is, why still feels like knot in bra area there & get some discomfort when have to squeeze anything even a little, makes no sense ????? 3 difff MD told me same
