Does anyone happen to know, when the last recorded duel, or military battle occurred in continental Europe, where only swords were employed as combative weaponry?
Not in the British Isles, only on the continent.
I'm requesting a specific event; not any responses referencing the first use of gun-powder, arrows, spears or what have you.
Such as a duel between two French noblemen, fought because of an insult, and for the sake of honor.
Not interested in American duels, or duels or battles fought in any eastern countries: just continental Europe.
Thanks,
Alberich
