Lasik eye surgery and boot camp?

Now I have heard of many dumb ass excuses on why people dont want to wear the BCGs. Now I have contacts and not that horrible of vision. I can make out shapes and colors so on PT runs I could do with out. When it comes to marksmanship I will need them. I have never worn glasses and went straight to contacts in high school. I have heard running with glasses can be a pain in the ass. Is there a required waiting period after eye surgery that one must wait for if they decide to go with the procedure?
See i was thinking of getting it done due to the fact that I am not use to having glasses on at all and also I am going to be a firefighter so all the shit with the contacts can cause a problem. I will be enlisting to the Air Force for their firefighter program in Jan. of 2011 after I finish up my 2 yr fire science degree. So just trying to figure out if there is a wait period or not

Well, I wear both glasses and contacts, and i hear the new bcgs are not all that bad, and i run with my glasses alot, no big deal, pushing them up when i get sweaty and whatnot is the only concern.

But i was also thinking of lasik before i leave for basic in january, but ive been told by many people to wait and the army could possibly pay for the procedure once i finish ait. So for my wallet's sake, i'm just gunna wait.

1. They sell elastic band's that go behind you head and attach to your glass's, so they do not slip or fall off.

2. You have to wait one year after lasik to enlist.

Plus it requires a wavier.

You probably won't HAVE to wear the BCG's all the time. We were told we had to wear them, but most didn't (except during the ranges). The DS's never mentioned the BCG's after they were issued (nor did they know who was supposed to be wearing them).

Don't pay to have the surgery. You would be better off to wait because the Army will do it for free!

And contacts are NOT a good idea in Basic. I tried it. They got so dusty and irritating after the first week, I ended up throwing them away. Since they are not allowed, I did not have any saline solution.
